Scouting for Food

posted Nov 1, 2016, 6:42 PM by Lynn Hamilton
Scouting For Food is the one district wide service event that Seneca District participates in. We really need every unit to help out distributing and collecting bags this year.  Seneca District is woefully short on numbers this year, and is in jeopardy of collecting LESS than in prior years.  Manna Food Bank desperately needs our donations to help them get through the holiday season and we need YOUR HELP to make this happen.

This Saturday is the "OFFICIAL" Distribution Date for Scouting For Food Bags.  There are still LOTS of Scouting For Food bags left.  If your unit has NOT picked up bags for distribution, please contact Phil Dennis at  We will make every effort to get you bags before this Saturday's distribution date.  Phil will be available most of the day Saturday (within reason) to meet up with units that need more bags.

Seneca District does not assign specific areas to specific units.  Units have historically distributed and collected bags from the same areas.  The map on our district Scouting For Food page ( will show where units have said that they distribute bags and collect them from.  Please contact Phil with any necessary changes.  There are a LOT of areas where we are not distributing bags.  Please consider expanding your distribution if you can.

Bags will be picked up on Saturday, November 12, 2016 and can be dropped at either of the two locations below:

Germantown Safeway
19718 Germantown Rd.
Germantown MD 20874
Quince Orchard High School
15800 Quince Orchard Rd.
North Potomac, MD 20878

Units can use the following link AFTER November 12th: It is not yet active. This will allow both units and you to make reports about food collection and participation.
