Popcorn Sales on Election Day

posted Oct 25, 2016, 10:30 PM by Lynn Hamilton

Want to earn a ton of money on popcorn?  Want to have a captive audience that's continually refreshed during the day?

Montgomery County Board of Elections has approved selling Popcorn at Polling places on November 8, 2016 - ELECTION DAY!

The attached documentation lists what you need to do - you need approval prior to selling - but once you get that, you're golden!  You will need approval from the Board of Education if your polling location is a school.

A list of Polling Places is also attached.  Once you have approval, scan and send that approval to Matt Beyers (matt_beyers@yahoo.com) with your desired location and two backup locations.  Locations will be approved on a first come, first served basis.  This will ensure there is no overlap between units.  Once you are approved for a location, that location will be yours for the entire day, so please plan to use the time to best advantage.  The unit can decide within itself how to allocate times at the location to particular Dens or Patrols.

Lastly, if you want to sell but have not yet ordered, WE CAN FIX THAT!   If you want to do a test run at polling places, Geoff Thomas (council popcorn rep) will be at the MSSC office to sign out popcorn. Contact Geoff.thomas@scouting.org to get popcorn and then sell!

Yours in Scouting,
